About the role

Starship is seeking a collaborative leader for the Palliative Care and Child Liaison Team. This is a fixed-term role for 12 months at 0.3 FTE. Expressions of interest are invited until the 27 April 2025 from candidates who have a clinical role within Starship Child Health 

The Service Clinical Director:

· Provides clinical leadership and maintains high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish.

· Provides strategic and operational leadership across Palliative Care and Child Liaison teams.

· Champions improvements for Māori health equity through the application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

· Links closely with regional partners, community and other sub-specialty services within Te Whatu Ora.

Pehea | About You

The appointed candidate will be accountable for all aspects of the service, including safety, equity and quality for patients, whānau and our kaimahi. The role will work closely alongside the clinical teams and with the Nurse Unit Manager and Operations Manager.

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated clinical and leadership skills, although this may be your first time in a Service Clinical Director role.

Starship aspires to transform clinical outcomes, particularly for mokopuna Māori, and we are seeking a leader who wishes to play a significant part in this change, supporting and empowering our kaimahi through the process.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Have a clinical role within Starship Child Health
  • Hold a current annual practising certificate with Vocational Registration
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application
  • Have a flexible and collaborative leadership style with experience in the organisation and management of clinical teams.
