About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Physiotherapist with a passion for rehabilitation and excellent patient care, with leadership experience or interest, to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation team at Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora Waitematā.

This is a full-time role in which you will be working alongside an established inter-disciplinary team (IDT), providing inpatient rehabilitation to patients in order to facilitate independence, quality of life and discharge home.

This role is a leadership role, supporting the inpatient rehabilitation physiotherapists in their day to day work. This role works in partnership with other senior physiotherapists as well as with other senior clinicians in the in IDT to ensure service provision is effective, efficient and quality care and outcomes are achieved.

The leadership focus of this role is primarily needed on Tumahu, the older adult rehabilitation ward, however some cross cover into the integrated stroke unit will be possible.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The inpatient rehabilitation team provides best practice rehabilitation, through a patient centred approach, to adult patients across two wards. The older adult rehabilitation ward (Tumahu – Ward 11) and the integrated stroke unit (Ward 15) which provides acute care and rehabilitation to stroke patients (aged 16 and over).

The work covers an array of conditions including patients with orthopaedic, neurological, and general medical conditions who require rehabilitation and who often also have complex social and discharge planning needs. You will be providing ongoing assessment and goal focused rehabilitation, and will use standardised outcome measures (Functional Independence Measure and interRAI) to demonstrate quality patient outcomes.

About you

  • New Zealand Professional Registration and valid APC
  • 5+years of recent inpatient and rehabilitation experience
  • Effective and dynamic leadership skills and experience
  • Strong role model
  • Ability to lead, support and mentor/supervise junior staff and students
  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level clinical assessment skills,
  • Excellent time management and a proactive, solution focused approach
  • A full New Zealand driver’s license
