Senior Physiotherapist - Adult Emergency Dept (AED)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced New Zealand registered Physiotherapist to join our Allied Health team within the Emergency Department. This is a Senior, permanent, full-time role based at Auckland Hospital and offers the opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership capabilities and work transdisciplinary with Occupational Therapy, alongside a wider Interdisciplinary team.
Main roles and responsibilities:
- You will provide Physiotherapy clinical knowledge and skills relative to AED/CDU, including early assessment and intervention, advice and guidance based on best evidence, and you will work collaboratively within the AED/CDU teams on a day-to-day basis.
- Managing a clinical caseload providing a comprehensive service across the emergency departments (inclusive of AED and CDU), supporting the assessment and treatment of a variety of patients in this setting.
- Working autonomously to support and prioritise caseload using a transdisciplinary model of care, while adhering to the scopes and limitations of professional practice and developing working relationships to support collaborative practice with the wider MDT.
- Driving quality improvement within the Adult Emergency Department alongside the Physiotherapy Advanced Clinician.
- Providing clinical and operational leadership within the wider acute Medical Team as required
- Being prepared to take on delegated responsibilities from the practice supervisor as required
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team is made up of passionate and supportive Physiotherapists motivated to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the communities we serve. In AED you will work alongside an Advanced Clinician Physiotherapist and a Senior Occupational Therapist. Our Acute Medical Team is led by a Practice Supervisor and consists of 14 staff working across AED, General Medicine, Respiratory, Cardiothoracics, Haematology and Oncology.
Our wider Physiotherapy team consists of 91.2FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About you
As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
- New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- At least 6 years clinical experience with significant experience working in the emergency department and / or short stay clinical decisions units.
- A flexible and proactive can-do approach
- Experience in supporting staff and students
- Effective communication and inter-personal skills
- Effective time management, prioritisation, and organisation skills
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to provide culturally safe care in the acute hospital environment
