About the Role
Liaison Psychiatry at Middlemore Hospital provides unique opportunities with the National Burns Centre, Regional Plastic Surgery and Spinal Rehabilitation provided by Health New Zealand Counties Manukau.
We are currently seeking a Liaison Psychiatrist who is interested in joining our multidisciplinary department. There are opportunities in adult consult-liaison psychiatry (0.3 FTE) and paediatric consult-liaison psychiatry (0.4 FTE)

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Liaison Psychiatry service at Middlemore currently operates on a ward referrals model. There are opportunity does successful candidates to develop in-depth liaison relationships with inpatient services should they wish to. Furthermore, the department is beginning to pilot outpatient clinic services for individuals with chronic medical conditions and psychiatric co-morbidities.
Liaison Psychiatry currently sits within the Psychological Medicine, one of the 13 Departments in the Division of Medicine and has close ties with all the medical specialities. All subspecialties contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching programmes.

About you
Candidates should be eligible for vocational registration in New Zealand as a psychiatrist.
- Essential requirements include FRANZCP or equivalent. Consultation-Liaison psychiatry subspecialty training is preferred, but not essential.
For the Paediatric Consultation-Liaison psychiatry role:
- Child and Adolescent experience is preferred, but not essential if the candidate wishes to develop this skillset in the role.
