About the Role:
We are seeking a Respiratory Health Psychologist to join our dedicated team at Middlemore Hospital. This role plays a vital part in supporting patients with respiratory conditions, including long-COVID, by providing evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention.
The service operates primarily from Middlemore Hospital, offering both inpatient and outpatient care across several satellite sites in the Counties Manukau region. You’ll be working within a multidisciplinary team that includes health psychologists, clinical psychologists, consultation-liaison psychiatrists, and clinical nurse specialists.
As part of the Respiratory multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with medical professionals, nurses, and allied health staff to enhance patient adaptation, recovery, and well-being. You’ll also contribute to staff training, service development, and research initiatives.
Interventions typically include individual therapy (often with a strong CBT and/or ACT focus), therapeutic groups, family therapy, psychoeducational groups, behaviour management, and case consultations.
Essential:
- Eligible to register or registered with the NZ Psychologists Board
- Current Annual Practising Certificate with the NZ Psychologists Board
- A minimum 12 months practical experience
- Full, clean driver’s licence
