About Aotearoa Clinical Trials
Aotearoa Clinical Trials (ACTT) is one of New Zealand's leading clinical trial site networks with proven capability in managing commercial and non-commercial grant-funded trials. Established over 20 years ago, we are located at both Middlemore and Whangārei Hospital's. We work across 25 therapeutic areas and are currently running over 150 clinical trials.
About the role:
We are seeking a Research Nurse at Middlemore Hospital to run clinical trials and related research with a focus on Infectious Diseases (ID) research. This is a part-time 12-month fixed-term role (FTE negotiable).
The suitable candidate will be responsible for all co-ordination of clinical trials and research, and research-related care of participants, in conjunction with the principal investigators (PIs) and other trial team members. This involves screening patients for eligibility, recruiting participants, seeking informed consent, collection of study samples, data entry and database management, liaison with the ID and treating clinical teams, follow-up of study participants, and managing and conducting visits for participants enrolled in ID clinical trials. The research nurse is also responsible for the successful completion of the trial in accordance with the International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. The research nurse will also be available to support other non-ID clinical trials and research managed by ACTT if required.
About you:
Essential
- Registered Nurse (RGON or R.Comp) with minimum 3 years post registration experience
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with strong time management skills
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and comfortable with digital systems
- Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and ability to work effectively with Māori and diverse communities
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred
- Experience in clinical trials or clinical research
- Knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines
- Experience with electronic CRFs and research databases
- Previous experience with quality management
- Postgraduate study (or currently undertaking)
- Teaching or presentation skills
