The Role:

Te Puawaitanga, our Southside CAMHS team, provides culturally responsive specialist mental health care for those with serious mental health and addiction problems. We serve the communities of South Auckland including Manukau, Manurewa, Papakura and across the Franklin region and are developing links with primary care and schools so we can work in an integrated way. Our main hub is based in East Tamaki however we offer the opportunity to work out of various satellite offices throughout our localities.

We are looking for a mental health nurse with sound knowledge and skills in working with the tamariki and rangitahi who reside in the southern part of South Auckland to come and join our team.

Our integrated locality based services provide specialist mental health care for those with serious mental health and addiction problems and provide consultation and liaison with primary care partners for those with mild to moderate concerns. We cover the areas of Manukau, Manurewa, Papakura and across the Franklin region. You will work mainly from our base at Springs Road East Tamaki, but can also have the opportunity to work from Papakura and Pukekohe locations.

You will also be provided with on-going support with clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.

Essential: 

  • NZ Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Minimum of 3 year’s post registration experience in Mental Health.
  • Full, NZ driver’s licence with no limitations
  • Post Grad Certificate in Mental health or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and cultural competencies required in the service

Desirable:

  • Understanding of child development.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Previous experience using therapeutic interventions with children.
