Registered Midwife, Pukekohe Birthing Unit
Registered Midwife – Fixed Term, Part Time Role (0.9 FTE)
Primary care in a rural setting
BFHI accreditation
Pukekohe Primary Birthing Unit is an 8 bed, two birthing room primary unit set in the southern most area of Counties Manukau known as Franklin. This rapidly growing rural town has been served for 70 years by the maternity facility. The unit is developing into a hub for services for the childbearing population.
As a midwife in the unit, you will provide care for antenatal clients requiring acute assessment and regular surveillance. Postnatal inpatients are a mixture of those who birth here, those birthing in other locations, mainly Middlemore, and women transitioning towards home with their ‘Feed and Grow’ babies. You will have the opportunity to provide some labour and birth cares as well as provide second midwife support for the numerous LMC midwives who utilise the facility. We have around 300 births a year in the unit. Our outcomes are great, and our postnatal clients receive breastfeeding support second to none.
This is a small unit with a big heart, surrounded by lemon trees and paddocks of sheep. We are a great team and support each other whether LMC or employed staff. We have current opportunities for NZ registered midwives with immediate start dates available.
What you are offered:
- Paid APC registration
- Further education/learning opportunities- we'll pay for you to go through your learning modules
- Flexibility, support and development
Essential
- NZ Qualified Midwife with a current annual practicing certificate
- Relevant visa/residency to work in NZ
