- Pain Fellow : Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau : Fulltime February 2027 – February 2028
- This is a 12 month full-time training position towards a new career in the rewarding field of Pain Medicine.

About the Role
The successful applicant will become a member of our outpatient chronic, and inpatient acute and complex, multidisciplinary pain teams. They will work across Middlemore Hospital, the Manukau Super Clinic, and other outlying pain clinics. Middlemore Hospital is a busy acute tertiary hospital in South Auckland that is home to multiple specialities including a National Burns Service, a regional spinal cord injury service, and Kidz First Children’s Hospital.
Our chronic pain team is a small, experienced and collegial multidisciplinary team comprised of Health Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Nurse Specialists, and Doctors with different specialist backgrounds (Psychiatry, Anaesthetics, Musculoskeletal Medicine, General Practice). We work with patients and their whānau within a biopsychosocial framework, providing initial triple-discipline assessments, individual specific treatments, and several group programs.
Attachments with affiliated services (including rehabilitation, palliative care, the Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS), adolescent health, or liaison psychiatry) may be available depending on the successful applicant’s areas of interest and level of training. We do not offer regular exposure to diagnostic or therapeutic pain medicine procedures.

About you
Our preferred candidate will have:
- A genuine interest in pain medicine
- Strong communication skills
- A primary specialist qualification
Preference will be given to current or future trainees of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of ANZCA. While the position is full-time, part time training might be considered (minimum 0.5 FTE).
