The Opportunity:
We have a unique opportunity for an Occupational Therapist/Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau to join the Kidz First Centre for Youth Health based at 95 Wiri Station Road, Wiri.
The Centre for Youth Health is a team of health professionals who work alongside rangatahi and their whaanau. Our team includes Paediatricians/Youth Health Physicians, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and a Psychologist. We work using an interdisciplinary model.
Within Counties Manukau, we provide support to rangatahi who experience complex or chronic health conditions and youth development concerns that have a significant impact on their lives. We also provide Gender Affirming Healthcare to rangatahi across the Auckland region.
We are looking for an occupational therapist who has sound clinical and relational skills, is whanau centred, can work independently and within a team environment. The ideal candidate would have experience working with young people and an understanding of working within a positive youth development model.
Essential:
- Registration with the New Zealand Occupational Therapy Board and current annual practising certificate
- Full, clean drivers’ licence
- Demonstrate cultural safety in practice
Desired:
- Experience in engaging in mana enhancing occupational therapy with youth.
- Skills/ interest in: Occupational Performance Coaching, Trauma Informed Care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing.
- Commitment to working in partnership with rangatahi, whaanau, schools and community
