Nurse Practitioner – Adult and Paediatric, Emergency Department Services

We are looking for Adult or Paediatric Nurse Practitioners to join our advanced practice team.

We are part of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. HNZ leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. 

 

About the role

We are looking for Nurse Practitioners to provide clinical expertise and leadership to our adult and paediatric areas while participating and disseminating current research activities and findings to enhance point of care for the patient at risk in the acute ward settings.

Our Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner team practice independently and collaboratively to utilise advanced assessments to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan in both adult and paediatric patients to reduce waiting times, reduce ED length of stay and increase patient satisfaction for people presenting to the Emergency Department.

You will be required to initiate and develop innovative approaches to problem solving while utilising skills from other disciplines and team members to co-ordinate and resolve problems. This role functions within an interdisciplinary model that best meets the patient requirements and is in line with the vision and values of Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau.

The role also provides clinical expertise and leadership to optimise patient outcomes and develop effective models of care in the department through quality initiatives, teaching, and mentoring.

 

About you

Are you an experienced senior nurse looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge of leading a high performing team? To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Registered as a Nurse Practitioner with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Current APC
  • A minimum of 4 years recent clinical experience in acute nursing care
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying best practice standards and providing clinical excellence
  • Ability to provide coaching and mentoring

Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is based in South Auckland and is within the largest Health New Zealand Districts across Aotearoa, New Zealand by population and provides employment for more than 7,000 people across the region.
