About the role
We are looking for Nurse Practitioners or experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists to demonstrate their clinical expertise and leadership across either our adult or paediatric areas of the Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital. We are looking to implement Fast Track pathways in both the Adult and Paediatric waiting rooms, and this role would be well suited to either experienced Nurse Practitioners or Clinical Nurse Specialists who are interested in progressing to a Nurse Practitioner role within 2 – 4 years of commencing employment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide specialist nursing expertise and assessment that supports patient care and optimises health outcomes, working collaboratively with clinicians and professionals across the interdisciplinary team
- Prescribe and administer medications within legislation, codes, scope of practice and in accordance with evidence best practice and clinical practice guidelines
- Apply leadership skills and advanced nursing expertise in a busy and high -pressured environment, working with a range of clinicians and across clinical specialities
- Lead and implement quality improvement initiatives across the service, focusing on benchmarking current practice and integrating evidence best practice to improve patient care and outcomes
- You will be empowered to make decisions or recommendations relating to patient management, while demonstrating a high level of communication and professionalism

Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is based in South Auckland and is within the largest Health New Zealand Districts across Aotearoa, New Zealand by population and provides employment for more than 7,000 people across the region.

With approximately 130,000 adult and paediatric presentations per year our Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital is one of the busiest in Australasia. Middlemore Hospital is situated in a lower socio-economic area and serves a culturally diverse, high need population with high acuity presentations.

About you
As a Nurse Practitioner or experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will have a proven commitment to high quality, evidenced base care and have demonstrated a commitment and experience in leading and inspiring others ensuring high quality, safe clinical practice and patient centred care is provided.
- Registered as a Nurse Practitioner with the NZ Nursing Council, with areas of practice relevant to Emergency Medicine
- Current APC
- A minimum of 4 years recent clinical experience in acute nursing care
- Demonstrated expertise in applying best practice standards and providing clinical excellence
- Ability to provide coaching and mentoring
