About the Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced perioperative nurse or technician to further their career, focusing on education, training and development within a passionate perioperative educator team. Āhua Tohu Pōkangia | Perioperative Services at Te Toka Tumai are looking for a perioperative educator (nurse or anaesthetic technician), to work clinically and provide support to our five Post Anaesthesia Care Units (PACUs).

Your primary purpose is to contribute to the development of clinical practice through delivery of education to the PACU workforce, including teaching on and supporting the Pokakapu Ātea - New to PACU (NTPACU) programme. You will contribute to developing further the directorate workforce education opportunities, plans and strategic objectives. This is achieved by informing and contributing to the development of resources with evidenced based education that can be applied within the directorate and organisation. As a senior nurse or technician, you will also have a responsibility for improving the quality of professional practice and safeguarding high standards of care in Te Toka Tumai by supporting an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish.

This is a permanent role working 0.7 FTE, Monday to Sunday.

About You

This is a part-time role with the possibility of combining it with a clinical position. While the role provides support to surgical and perioperative areas, the primary focus will be on supporting the teams across our PACU departments.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Anaesthetic Technician with a passion for education and a commitment to advancing clinical practice.

You will bring:

· Registration as a Nurse or Anaesthetic Technician with a current APC.

· A passion for education, with experience supporting the development of others.

· Adult and paediatric PACU experience.

· Progress on, or completion of, a postgraduate pathway (Certificate/Diploma/Masters in specialty practice).

· Expertise as an Expert/Senior Nurse or Senior Anaesthetic Technician with relevant clinical experience.

· Sound knowledge of clinical teaching/learning methods.

· Well-developed communication skills and critical thinking ability.
