About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist clinical services in neonatology by supporting the acute and non-acute services at Counties Manukau District.
As a member of a dynamic and progressive team, you will:
- Participate in the Intensive Care (level 3) roster, currently one week in seven
- Participate in the Special Baby Care (level 2) and postnatal ward roster, currently one week in seven
- Participate in the Neonatal Care call-back roster which is currently one in seven on weekdays and one in seven weekends (including level 3 and 2 ward rounds each weekend)
- Participate in neonatal outpatient clinic work
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate training
- Contribute to the supervision of Registrars/Fellows.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team of over 270 staff from across the multidisciplinary team are dedicated to providing excellent, whaanau-centred, evidence-based care for our most vulnerable infants and families. We are one of the country’s largest Neonatal Units, with 48 resourced cots, providing care to New Zealand’s most culturally diverse population with extensive health needs.
Our Neonatal Unit provides Intensive Care (Level 3) and Special Care (Level 2) service to our community, with over 8000 births per year.

About you
As a Neonatologist, you should either be registered or eligible for vocational registration with a paediatric scope of practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Echocardiography experience preferred
- Familiarity with research practice
- Proven ability or competence in working with Maaori, Pacific and culturally diverse population
- Enthusiastic with a strong work ethic
