Part-time Staff MIT with MRI scope - Counties Manukau

Health New Zealand - Counties Manukau Radiology is located in South Auckland across Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Children's Hospital and Manukau Health Park (MHP) and is at the forefront of innovative health care delivery with the New Zealand Public Health Sector. Middlemore Hospital includes the National Burns Centre and is a major trauma hospital specialising in spinal and plastics. Our busy department serves a diverse community and is rapidly growing with planned expansion, including new premises at MHP opening in 2026.

Our Radiology department is large and diverse with state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment that includes:

·       3 MRI Scanners 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners (4 from mid-2026)

  • Five CT scanners performing acute and elective CT scans, including Cardiac CT

·       13 General x-ray rooms, all with DR

  • Two dedicated angiography suites

  • A specialist radiology theatre service

  • 2 Cardiac catheter suites

This position is a permanent part-time (24 hours/week) with rostering across X-ray and MRI.  The successful applicant will need a current annual practicing certificate with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board in MRI and ideally MIT scopes.  This position will work alongside a team that is supported by 2ICs, Modality leads and MIT Team Leader. Key responsibilities include clinical decision-making, safe equipment operation, efficient and quality service delivery, supervising student and trainee MITs.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an emergency hospital setting with experience in IV cannulation and contrast administration being an advantage. 2026 is an exciting year with two new radiology departments at both the Middlemore and Manukau Health Park sites.

The MRI service is busy and growing, we do a wide variety including Cardiac, Paediatric, Breast biopsy and provide 24/7 acute coverage working within a team of MITs, MRI Trainees, SMO’s, Radiology registrars, nursing and administration who are strongly committed to providing a quality service.
