Our Organisation:
Health NZ Counties Manukau is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health care delivery within the New Zealand Public Health Sector. We continue to work with others to achieve equity in key health indicators for Maaori, Pacific and communities with health disparities and will continue to develop and implement plans, based on local needs to improve the health and wellbeing of Counties Manukau region. Our main sites are Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Hospital and Manukau Health Park.
We are part of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. HNZ leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.
About Pukekohe Rehab and Care:
Pukekohe Rehab & Care is a 20-bed inpatient rehabilitation and care ward located within Pukekohe Hospital.
Our service is dedicated to improving and maintaining the health, independence and wellbeing of older people in the Franklin area.
We provide specialist inpatient care for people aged 65 years and over, including:
- Assessment and treatment
- Rehabilitation
- Sub-acute medical care
- Supportive and palliative care
About the role:
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and motivated Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and highly skilled nursing team.
Working alongside our nurses and wider healthcare team, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to our patients throughout their hospital stay.
You will be someone who is well organised, able to prioritise competing tasks, communicates effectively and genuinely enjoys building positive relationships with older people and their whānau.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate, respectful and person-centred care to patients
- Support patients with their daily activities and personal care needs
- Assist with mobility, transfers and rehabilitation activities as directed by the nursing and allied health team
- Work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective patient care
- Communicate respectfully with patients, whānau and colleagues
- Help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for patients
- Recognise and report changes in a patient's condition or wellbeing to the appropriate nursing staff
- Organise and prioritise your workload effectively
- Contribute positively to the team and the overall patient experience
Essential Qualifications:
- Health Care Assistant Level 4 Certificate or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in a hospital environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English.
