About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our Operating Theatres team at Middlemore Hospital.

Our Operating Theatres include specialities such as Burns, Plastic Reconstructive & Hand Surgery and Maxillo-facial. We offer care under National Burns Centre and Regional Centre for Hand and Reconstructive Surgery.

Health Care Assistants are our RNs right hand people. Assisting them with day-to-day tasks of caring for our patients, this is a unique opportunity for you to contribute to our vision of delivering quality patient care and compassion.

The successful applicant will get the opportunity to work with different patients and families supporting the nurses. As aHealth Care Assistant, you will be required to provide clinical care to our patients and support our team work. Our new team member must also be highly organised, able to prioritise, have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy building relationships with our patients.

Salaries are based on the NZNO Collective Agreement Health Care Assistant salary scale between Step 1 ($60,100) and Step 5 ($70,358).

Essential:

  • 2+ years Health Care Assistant experience in New Zealand, preferably in a large hospital setting
  • Level 4 NZ Health Care Assistant certificate with 1+ years HCA experience in New Zealand
  • or NZ Level 3 Health Care Assistant certificate with 2+ years HCA experience or equivalent (to be assessed) in New Zealand
  • Good communication skills & a compassionate approach
