About the role:

We have exciting opportunity available for experienced Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our interdisciplinary team based at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre. The successful applicant must be qualified and flexible with a willingness to learn and make a commitment to fill this position.

The Healthcare Assistant will work in a collaborative practice team as a care partner assisting the Nurse Lead and Registered Nurse(s) to meet the health needs of the resident population of Te Āhuru o Mōwai o Aotearoa. From time to time you will also be assisting the Clinical Administrators to support organisation of Health Services e.g. booking and ordering.

There will be demands to meet deadlines, maintain accuracy and quality of information. Failure to do so could impact on the organisation in terms of organisational effectiveness and timeframes.

This is an exciting time to be working in the community and establishing new ways of working. If you have the enthusiasm, we can provide the support. You will be given a comprehensive orientation.

Essential:

  • 2+ years Health Care Assistant experience in New Zealand, preferably in an acute setting
  • Level 4 NZ Health Care Assistant certificate with 1+ years HCA experience in New Zealand
  • or NZ Level 3 Health Care Assistant certificate with 2+ years HCA experience or equivalent (to be assessed) in New Zealand
  • Good communication skills & a compassionate approach

  • Refugee care
  • Women’s health
  • Primary Care
  • Paediatric
