About the role:

At Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, an amazing opportunity is waiting for you in our Critical Care Complex unit, based at Middlemore Hospital.

The Critical Care Complex which is both the Intensive Care Unit & High dependency Unit is the specialist care given to patients with acute (sudden), potentially reversible, life-threatening diseases. This may include patients who have life-threatening conditions such as a major accident, burns injury, spinal cord injury, severe infection or those recovering from a major operation.

Health Care Assistants are our RNs right hand people. Assisting them with day-to-day tasks of caring for our patients, this is a unique opportunity for you to contribute to our vision of delivering quality patient care.

The successful applicant will get the opportunity to work with different patients and families supporting the nurses. As aHealth Care Assistant you will be required to provide clinical care to our patients as well as experience in stock ordering and inventory control, ensuring accurate management of supplies and timely replenishment. Our new team member must also be highly organised, able to prioritise, have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy building relationships with our patients.

These are 12 hour rostered shifts, that have to be flexible and includes weekends and public holidays.

Essential:

  • 2+ years Health Care Assistant experience in New Zealand
  • Level 4 NZ Health Care Assistant certificate with 1+ years HCA experience in New Zealand
  • or NZ Level 3 Health Care Assistant certificate with 2+ years HCA experience or equivalent (to be assessed) in New Zealand
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in stock ordering and inventory control, including monitoring supply levels, coordinating timely procurement, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards to support efficient healthcare operation
