About the role

We’re thrilled to offer a Health Care Assistant opportunity in medical oncology as part of our Northern Region Cancer & Blood Service - Te Pūriri o Te Ora, delivering high-quality care to patients across Northland and Auckland Metro.

In the past year, the New Zealand Government has increased funding in the medicines budget by over $600 million over four years, for publicly funded provision of 33 new cancer and 33 new non-cancer medicines. It is estimated that 92,240 patients across the country will access these medicines in the first year.

Health Care Assistants are our RNs right hand people. Assisting them with day-to-day tasks of caring for our patients, this is a unique opportunity for you to contribute to our vision of delivering quality patient care.

The successful applicant will get the opportunity to work with different patients and families supporting the nurses. As a Health Care Assistant you will be required to provide clinical care to our patients. Our new team member must also be highly organised, able to prioritise, have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy building relationships with our patients.

Nau mai, haere mai – unlock a career opportunity in cancer to make a meaningful and transformative impact for whānau living with cancer across the Northern Region. Learn more about the new cancer medicines implementation

About Te Pūriri o Te Ora - Kia ora from our team!

Te Pūriri o Te Ora is the name that has been gifted to our northern regional cancer and blood services by Kahurangi Rangimārie Naida Glavish of Ngāti Whātua, Chief Advisor Tikanga for Te Toka Tumai Auckland. Te Pūriri o Te Ora means "the Pūriri tree of wellbeing" and speaks to the many qualities and gifts of the Pūriri tree and our aspiration to provide a place of healing and wellbeing for our communities.

Te Pūriri o Te Ora is the biggest cancer and blood service within Aotearoa, providing care to approximately 40% of the country. If research is your passion, Te Pūriri o Te Ora is home to the largest oncology research unit in Aotearoa NZ and our strong partnership with Te Aka Mātauranga Matepukupuku (Centre for Cancer Research) drives cancer research and education ensuring academic insights and evidence-based practices in our evolving clinical landscape.

The values that underpin the way we care and work with patients, whānau and kaimahi across Te Pūriri o Te Ora are Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga, Āhurutanga, Mana Motuhake and Wairuatanga.
