The opportunity:
We are looking for an enthusiastic NZ registered physiotherapist to join our experienced orthopaedic team. The team is based over two sites: Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Surgery Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your clinical skills whilst developing skills in leadership/management.
Your clinical caseload will be varied ranging from working on the acute orthopaedic wards with pre/post-operative elective surgery and acute trauma including Spinal cord injuries to working in the Emergency Department, (which is one of the busiest ED’s in NZ). Counties district is the Northern Regional Spinal Cord Injury Centre which includes a 4 bedded SCI Unit on the acute orthopaedic ward.
If successful, you will be required to contribute to the supervision, training and development of rotational staff, physiotherapy students and rehabilitation assistants. The role also includes weekend and on-call duties.
Support is offered by the Section Head of orthopaedics, Allied Health Physiotherapy Professional Leader and other experienced physiotherapists (5) within the team. Our team, department and multidisciplinary team have well established in-service programmes which help promote continuous and collaborative learning.
Essential:
- NZ Registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
- Minimum of 8 months orthopaedic experience including basic acute respiratory experience
- Full drivers’ licence
Desirable experience:
- Experience working with Acute Spinal Cord Injury patients
- Experience working in the emergency department
- Supervision of rotational staff and students
- Experience of audit and research
