Join Our Team at Kidz First – Senior Medical Officer (Paediatrics)

Kidz First is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Medical Officer – Paediatrics to join our dynamic team. Based in one of New Zealand’s largest General Paediatric departments, you’ll be working with an experienced, multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, innovation, and excellence in care.

About the Role:
In this role, you will provide specialist paediatric medical assessment and management to children and young people (0–15 years) in an acute care setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • 1:6 ward weeks, including weekends
  • Rostered days in the Emergency Department, leading teams of paediatric RMOs
  • Participation in outpatient clinics and follow-up care
  • Opportunities to lead and engage in improvement projects that align with your passions

About you

As a Paediatrician at Kidz First you will need the following:

  • Be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
  • Paediatric vocational scope of practice and Paediatric emergency medicine specialist (PEMS) training is preferred
  • Be committed to Evidence-based practice and quality measures
  • Demonstrate effective communication styles, critical thinking and striving to improve health inequities
  • Be a team player that can traverse across services and respectful of other disciplines
  • A proven ability or competence in working with Maaori, Pacific and culturally diverse populations is preferred
