Our Organisation:
Health NZ Counties Manukau is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health care delivery within the New Zealand Public Health Sector. We continue to work with others to achieve equity in key health indicators for Maaori, Pacific and communities with health disparities and will continue to develop and implement plans, based on local needs to improve the health and wellbeing of Counties Manukau region. Our main sites are Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Hospital and Manukau Health Park.
We are part of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. HNZ leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand. We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand and service our community. We welcome applications from our diverse Maaori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.
About the role:
The Community Midwifery Service embraces a midwife-led/woman focused model of care offering continuity of antenatal care and postnatal care as available. Many of the women have complex health and social needs, so a keen interest in learning the skills and knowledge to undertake joint working with several diverse agencies to get the best outcomes for women and babies will be a central part of this role.
The hours of work are mostly between Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4.30 pm but with this role flexibility in working hours will be important to include evening and weekend working as required.
We are looking to recruit a midwife who has already been working in the community and for the organisation for 2 or more years. For this fixed term role, covering for a midwife on parental leave, we are looking for a midwife who is confident in the use of BadgerNet Electronic Maternity Records and who can adapt to the delivery of digitally assisted community midwifery care.
Community Midwives are supported by our Specialist Diabetes and Maternal Fetal Medicine Team colleagues as well as by a Social Work and Community Health Worker Team. We also have a breastfeeding and infant nutrition service.
Salaries are based on the MERAS Collective Agreement Community Midwife Scale
