About the role:

The Community Midwifery Service embraces a midwife-led/woman focused model of care aiming to offer continuity of antenatal and postnatal care. Many of the women have complex health and social needs, so a keen interest in learning the skills and knowledge to undertake joint working with several diverse agencies to get the best outcomes for women and babies will be a central part of this role.

The hours of work are mostly between Monday to Friday, 7.30-8 am to 4-4.30 pm with some occasional rostered weekend working every 4 to 5 weeks as required.

We are looking to recruit a midwife with experience of working in the community and who has worked within Counties Manukau District for 2 or more years in any midwifery role. We are looking for a midwife who is confident in the use of BadgerNet Electronic Maternity Records, keen to learn new skills, is focused on providing a high standard of care and a great team player who can work in busy environment and be part of a supportive service.

Community Midwives are supported by our Specialist Diabetes colleagues as well as by a Social Work and Community Health Worker Team. We also have a breastfeeding and infant nutrition service.

Salaries are based on the MERAS Collective Agreement Community Midwife Scale

Essential requirements 

• Registered Midwife with current NZ APC
• 2+ years recent clinical midwifery experience
• Current and clean NZ drivers licence
