About the role: 

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) National Burns Centre role provides advanced clinical expertise and nursing leadership across the National Burns Service, both nationally and within Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau. This senior specialist role is focused on delivering high quality, patient centred care for people undergoing treatment for burns, while supporting their whaanau throughout the continuum of care.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the CNS plays a pivotal role in coordinating and enhancing seamless care pathways across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The role provides specialist clinical guidance, supports service integration initiatives, and ensures care planning and treatment delivery are informed by best practice and a comprehensive case management approach.

The CNS also provides professional leadership and education to nursing and clinical staff, fostering excellence in burns care and ensuring teams are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care. This role will also involve contributing to the 1:4 after hour call roster.

 

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse - Current NZ Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Post graduate diploma relevant to speciality
  • A minimum of five years post registration in surgical nursing with relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • Functioning at Proficient or above on the PDRP framework.
