The Role:
We are seeking a senior nurse with the skill and experience in research, with a keen interest in our Counties Manukau community and with strategic thinking and vision to take on this dynamic leadership role. The Clinical Nurse Director Research (CND) will be a key leadership position aiming to advance nursing research at Counties Manukau, support broader nursing workforce in growing interest and engagement in research activity and inspiring nurses to engage in best evidence-based practice across our organisation. The opportunities for nursing research to expand and advance within our district are exciting and require nursing leadership to help shape and guide the direction. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Chief Nurse. You will be at the forefront of transforming nursing practice, supporting strategic and operational initiatives, and ensuring optimal patient and whaanau outcomes for our South Auckland community.
We are seeking an organised and capable candidate with strong relational skills who is able to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment and is capable of driving clinical excellence and inspiring teams. You will need to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including in local hospital services, regional teams and tertiary education providers.
Your passion for equitable, patient-focused care and your broad understanding of healthcare systems and commitment to implementing Te Tiriti principles and ensuring equity is wide-spread, will be crucial in leading and shaping the future of nursing across our organisational clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic nursing leadership and direction across nursing related research
- Maintain overview of all nursing research activity at Counties Manukau Health
- Take a lead role in the re-design, implementation and data management of Fundamentals of Care program including taking on research lead for this important quality improvement program
- Develop a nursing research strategy and operationalise the strategy across our nursing system with organisational values, quality improvement and learning and evidence based practice that promotes excellence.
- Support nursing research with a strong emphasis on Maaori and Pacific health equity.
- Work as a team member with the clinical nursing directors to support nursing strategy for the district
- Represent nursing perspectives in governance, clinical, and research forums.

About You:
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum 7+ years relevant clinical experience in NZ
- Hold a current research masters and/or PHD level qualification
- Proven nursing leadership/management experience
- Strong writing, reporting and data management skill-set
- Experience and confidence in all aspects of research process including managing ethics.
