Are you an experienced and dedicated Registered Midwife ready to take on a leadership role? We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual to provide expert clinical leadership and direction on one of our Maternity Wards – Ward 21. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of women and their whaanau, ensuring the delivery of high-quality midwifery care while promoting evidence-based best practices.
Purpose of the Position:
The Registered Midwife in this senior role will oversee the day-to-day clinical management of Ward 21, ensuring the provision of exceptional maternity care. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team, lead by example, and support the ongoing development and implementation of quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership: Provide expert clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective maternity care in accordance with New Zealand midwifery professional and Ministry of Health standards.
- Collaboration: Work in partnership with women, Lead Maternity Carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and review personalized care plans.
- Emergency Support: Provide emergency midwifery care and facilitate transfers to other maternity services when needed.
- Quality Improvement: Drive quality initiatives and ensure compliance with Health Safety and accreditation standards.
- Professional Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Resource Management: Effectively manage workforce and resource allocation, ensuring the clinical needs of women are met.
- Clinical Incident Support: Attend high-risk clinical incidents, providing expert advice and ensuring the best outcomes for women and their babies.
Essential:
- Registered Midwife with Current NZ Midwifery Registration
- 5+ years recent midwifery experience, inclusive of secondary and tertiary birthing unit experience
- Clinical Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a clinical leadership or management role within a maternity setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the NZ Maternity Model of Care and Section 88
