About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for motivated Physiotherapist(s) to join the physiotherapy team at Middlemore Hospital, delivering high-quality care within the Critical Care Complex and supporting the wider inpatient physiotherapy service.

This role supports the expansion of a 7-day Critical Care Physiotherapy service at Counties Manukau. You will provide hands-on physiotherapy to critically ill patients and contribute to education, coaching, and workforce development. At least one weekend day (Saturday and/or Sunday) will be part of your regular roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert cardiorespiratory and critical care physiotherapy, including weekend shifts.
  • Contribute to education and training initiatives for the critical care physiotherapy workforce.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and clinical support to Allied Health staff.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Participate in regional collaboration to support service development and consistency.
  • Support workforce diversity and equity, including Māori and Pacific practitioners.

About You

  • Registered Physiotherapist with experience or a strong interest in critical care/cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
  • Minimum 6 years post-graduation experience, ideally including 3–4 years in ICU/HDU.
  • Confident working autonomously in a fast-paced critical care environment.
  • Passionate about clinical education and workforce development.
  • Committed to improving health equity for Māori and Pacific peoples.
  • Strong communicator and collaborative team member.
  • Available and willing to work weekend shifts (either Saturday, Sunday, or both).
  • Hold a full driver’s licence.
