The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech Language Therapist to work across the Counties Manukau District Speech language service as an Advanced Clinician. This role will provide clinical leadership across the speech therapy team and will focus on enhancing the health outcomes for clients and whanau by ensuring high quality care is provided.

In this role you will:

  • Apply advanced knowledge, skills and clinical reasoning when providing specialist intervention
  • Coordinate, facilitate and model interdisciplinary practice based
  • Provide specialist consultation and clinical teaching based on contemporary best-practice
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Speech Language Therapists through clinical research, audit and evaluation of services and client outcomes
  • Support the development of Speech language Therapy by providing specialist advice and input into policy, planning, and resources

This is an excellent career development opportunity for an experienced Speech Language Therapist with a passion for clinical leadership, workforce development and innovative service design. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with Allied Health Team Leaders and senior clinicians to ensure high quality, evidence-based practice throughout the Speech Language therapy Service. The role will support team members to develop and reach FEES and VFS competencies.

This role can be combined with your current clinical workloads or as a standalone role. Taking a lead role in the development and upskilling of clinicians within the Speech Language therapy service will provide you with great opportunities for professional development and further career advancement.

Essential:

  • Relevant Speech Language Therapy qualification and eligibility for NZSTA membership
  • A minimum of 6 years post-graduate experience within a similar health setting
  • Proven record of clinical leadership, critical thinking, and service development
  • Full, clean drivers licence

Desirable:

  • Active involvement in relevant professional organisations
  • Research and audit experience
  • FEES and VFS competencies
  • Knowledge of quality improvement principles and processes
