Ward Clerk - Totara Haumaru Rua Ward, North Shore Hospital - Te Whatu Ora, Waitemata

  • Permanent, Part-time position (0.5FTE/20hrs per week)
  • Monday to Friday (hours covering 7am - 5pm)
  • Based in North Shore Hospital - Totara Haumaru

About us

Te Whatu Ora - Waitematā are undertaking major capital works at our rapidly-expanding campuses to help meet unprecedented population growth in the Northern Region of New Zealand. A cornerstone of this expansion programme is the construction of the four-storey Tōtara Haumaru (Shade of the Tree) hospital building on Auckland's North Shore. This new state-of-the-art facility is being built on our North Shore Hospital campus - overlooking the incredible, volcanically formed Lake Pupuke - just a stone’s throw away from our world-famous Waitematā Harbour and some of the region’s most spectacular beaches. Tōtara Haumaru is due to open in July 2024 and will provide up to eight extra operating theatres, four new endoscopy suites and up to 150 new beds – helping us meet the needs of our vibrant, fast-growing and culturally diverse population of over 643,000 people.

About the Role

We are looking for a Ward clerk to join our team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for providing a warm welcome to patients & their whānau into the department, managing telephone calls and answering queries with a professional & positive attitude, and a range of administration & clerical duties and Charge Nurse Manager support responsibilities will be an expectation in this role. You will need to offer the best of success in your previous administration and customer service roles, preferably in a public service environment. You should be able to thrive on the fast pace and varied duties that this job promises.

About You

  • Previous receptionist experience within a hospital or healthcare environment

  • Work well under pressure and remain calm and courteous in stressful situations
