We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist with extensive knowledge and experience in Surgery as well as strong leadership capabilities to join our progressive Clinical Pharmacy Service at Counties Manukau!

The opportunity:

Surgical services are provided across two sites at Counties Manukau - Middlemore Hospital (mainly acute) and Manukau Health Park (elective and outpatient such as preadmission clinics). Our clinical pharmacists mainly operate within a team-based model of care as part of the multi-disciplinary team covering a range of surgical specialties including General Surgery, Vascular, Orthopaedics and Spine, Plastic and Hand, as well as the National Burn Service. The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist in Surgery is viewed as a “generalist specialist” who is highly trained in different areas of surgery and able to provide valuable pharmacy input to optimise care, especially for those who are co-morbid and clinically complex. As a senior member of the team, the Specialist pharmacist also plays an important role in education and training of junior staff as well as supporting the Team Leader in daily operations and continued service development and quality improvement.

We are looking for a motivated clinical pharmacist with the relevant experience and leadership qualities that fulfil the expectations of Specialist. Alternatively, this is a rare opportunity for a clinical pharmacist with some experience in Surgery to step up into a senior role as Pre-specialist.
