The Opportunity:
We have a great opportunity for an experienced diabetes dietitian to join our close knit and innovative outpatient team based at Middlemore Hospital. Our team is responsible for the nutritional management of clients and families with chronic diseases such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, obesity or progressing through our bariatric surgery pathway. This role will suit someone who has previous experience working with people with chronic kidney disease and bariatrics and has worked closely with multidisciplinary teams.
The ideal applicant is self-motivated and enjoys working in a flexible and challenging environment, has great verbal and written interpersonal skills, able to think outside the box and be efficient in time management. You consistently strive for a patient centred care approach to practice and enjoy working both independently and as part of a strong quality-focussed team. You will have an awareness and understanding of cultural safety, especially in relation to your dietetic practice. You will be involved with dietetic student training and be required to participate in service development and project work.
Essential:
- BCapSc or BSc, and Post Grad Dip Diet or MSc Dietetics (or equivalent as recognised by the NZ Dietitians Board).
- NZRD with current annual practicing certificate
- 5 years clinical experience in the relevant area
- An ability to relate and communicate clearly on difficult and complex matters with a range of healthcare professionals, patients, and dietetic colleagues
- Cultural awareness and understanding
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Professional supervision and coaching/mentoring experience
