Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Senior Hospital Play Specialist is an experienced clinician with proven clinical competence within paediatric practice. This role is predominantly clinical, working to provide care for children, young people and whānau within the inter-disciplinary team setting. The Senior Hospital Play Specialist works as a support for Core Hospital Play Specialists in collaboration with the Hospital Play Specialist Senior Leadership Team (Team Leader, ECE Lead, Clinical Coach).
The Senior HPS will hold a designated portfolio of responsibility and support clinical education and quality improvement initiatives relevant to their area of practice and/or designated area of responsibility. This role provides comprehensive assessment and outcome focused innovative care, applying evidence based practice, interventions and education within the area of specialty.

Requirements for the role:
- Hold professional registration with HPSAANZ.
- A minimum of 4 years post graduate experience including a minimum of 2 years within paediatrics
- Experience mentoring and guiding clinical / education practice
- A sound understanding of practice in the relevant area of clinical practice in New Zealand
- Post graduate study / qualifications in relevant clinical area desired
- Experience of supervising staff desired
