Allied Health Professional and Clinical leader

Permanent, Full time 

We are excited to advertise a permanent role within the Te Whatu Ora Waitematā Allied Health Professional Clinical Leadership team (PCL), committed to optmising patient and whānau centred care across the district.

The Professional Clinical Leader – Dental/Oral Therapy position based in the Auckland Regional Dental service will be a part of the wider Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora, Waitematā Allied Health Professional and Clinical Leadership team.

You will be a key component in Waitematā’s clinical governance framework, with primary areas of responsibility for strategic development of your discipline to include policy making, setting professional and clinical standards and ensuring the quality and safety of clinical practice within your domain.

You will be responsible for achieving the highest possible standards of practice for your discipline, whilst ensuring and developing effective strategies and action plans that will achieve optimum efficiency and standards of practice across the service, whilst understanding the inequities for Māori and ensuring we meet our obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

 You will have a strong role to play in leading and coordinating relevant continuing professional development activities across the district, promoting interdisciplinary practice and innovative models of care with a strong focus on ensuring key leadership roles within the discipline.

Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Chief Allied Health for Child Women and Family, and Operations Manager (ARDS) you will work collaboratively the Allied Health Professional Leadership team, ARDS Leadership Team, Team Leaders and Clinical Educators, Clinical Coaches and Health New Zealand/ Te Whatu Ora, Waitematā Quality Management Team, to facilitate optimum quality, productivity and efficiency of all relevant aspects of clinical service delivery. 

To succeed in this role, you will need to have at least seven years professional/clinical experience with proven leadership, relationship management skills, and the ability to work autonomously within Dental Therapy or Oral Health Therapy. It is desired that you have Project management and quality improvement experience at an organisational level and hold an annual practicing certificate.

You will currently be in a leadership role where you have successfully undertaken leadership tasks and service development. Your other personal attributes include strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence and inspire others,a positive attitude, and eye for innovation and commitment to providing outstanding care to our community.
