Starship Children’s Health (Auckland), the leading provider of child health care in New Zealand and the South Pacific, has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Paediatric Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Paediatric Urology to commence by May 2025. An earlier or later start date is flexible and negotiable with the successful candidate.
This role provides:
· Participation in the Paediatric Urology team (3 full-time surgeons) with contribution to the delivery of Paediatric Urology inpatient and outpatient care consistent with the requirements of service provision and the vision of the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Starship Children’s Health.
· Participation in the provision of acute and elective surgical services within the Paediatric Surgical Department at Starship Children’s Health.
· Administrative activities, such as audits and other projects within the department.
· Participation in medical undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and in departmental research.
Auckland is a challenging and rewarding environment to practice Paediatric Surgery as we see a broad range of childhood illnesses and injuries with a high level of complexity and acuity. The department is a purpose-built facility with state-of-the-art equipment.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
We welcome applications from those who:
· Are an experienced Paediatric Surgeon with a Urology subspecialty interest within the field of Paediatric Surgery
· Registered as a Medical Practitioner with FRACS Paediatric Surgery and/or Paediatric Urology
· Vocationally registered or eligible for this in the speciality of Paediatric General Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
· Have completed a Paediatric Surgery training programme recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
· Can demonstrate an interest in the supervision and teaching of junior RMOs, particularly registrars in training
· Have gained broad training and experience across the breadth of acute and elective Paediatric Surgery
