Do you have a strong commitment to recovery and a passion towards delivering best practice? If so, then we want to hear from you!

We have an exciting role for a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our professional and multidisciplinary team at Koropiko (Ward 35 East) Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP). MHSOP offers a fully integrated community and inpatient mental health service for older people (65 years +). These patients face functional disorders, dementia with behavioural and psychological symptoms and people under the age of 65 years of age, if they have an age related disorder, e.g. early onset dementia.

Our community team provides assessment and treatment for the above clients in their own homes, in Rest Homes and in Private Hospitals. Our inpatient ward provides acute assessment and management of this same group and assists in enabling a successful return to the clients home with family / whaanau, or if necessary admission to residential care.

Responsibilities will include
the assessment and treatment of our clients occupational needs as well as specialised interventions that are considered an essential component of our multidisciplinary team. You would provide an overarching occupational therapy perspective for the team and service for clients as required, with the opportunity to develop therapeutic groups for a clinically and culturally diverse client group, and carry out expert assessments of function. There is an expectation that this will also include comprehensive Mental Health Assessment, Risk Assessment and management plans.

Essential
  • New Zealand Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board or eligibility to gain registration for overseas applicants
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Experience as a mental health clinician and care coordination
  • Knowledge of mental health and working with older people
  • Full clean drivers licence
