Laboratory Scientist Microbiology, Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Counties Manukau
Fixed Term, Full-time Position (9-months Parental Leave Cover)
We are currently looking for a New Zealand registered Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team.
The Microbiology department is situated on-site at the Middlemore campus and provides a 24-hour service for Middlemore and Kidz First Hospitals and the Manukau Health Park. Here at Te Whatu Ora, Counties Manukau, we serve a population with complex health needs as well as providing national and regional services, e.g the National Burns Unit, plastic surgery and spinal rehabilitation. The Microbiology department is involved in teaching technical and medical staff and has close links with the Infection Prevention & Control service and Infectious Diseases department.
As a medical laboratory scientist in our microbiology laboratory, you will be joining a well- established team. We are excited to offer you opportunities to work with an array of molecular technologies that we use in conjunction with microscopy, culture, identification, and susceptibility testing to diagnose causative agents of infectious disease. As well as routine diagnostic microbiology we offer Molecular Microbiology, Mycology and Mycobacteria microscopy and culture, and Helicobacter isolation and susceptibility testing.
This full-time role is Monday to Friday, with rostered weekend and evening work covering a 24/7 service.
Essential
Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science
Registration with Medical Science Council of NZ
Preferred
Current Annual Practising Certificate
Experience in a diagnostic medical microbiology laboratory.
