Bowel Screening Saves lives: Health Promoter – Maori Community

Part time 0.5FTE (40 hours per fortnight)

Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora provides the national bowel screening programme (NBSP) to eligible people aged 60- 74 years. 

Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora expects to achieve bowel cancer screening rates of 60% for all eligible Māori men and women between the ages of 60 to 74 years.

The current participation rate for eligible Māori men and women living in the Waitematā area is 52.6%. 

Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Waitemata is looking for an exceptional Health Promoter to raise awareness and participation of the free national bowel screening programme in our area, and particularly in the Maori community. Strong relationship skills are important, as is the ability to engage well with our eligible age group, 60-74 year olds.

The ideal candidate would be innovative, resourceful, highly motivated and a strong team player who already has strong links within the community. Knowledge of tikanga and Te Reo Maori are essential and you must be available for evening and week-end work, both locally and across the wider Auckland region when required

This position is part time working 40 hours per fortnight. We are based in Takapuna however we work across the whole Waitemata region.
