Counties Manukau District is offering several Clinical Psychology Internships next year!

If you are currently completing your doctorate degree studies, we would like to invite you to apply to our internship.

Our Mental Health services provide a range of integrated and comprehensive mental health assessments, treatments interventions and support for service users residing in the Counties Manukau catchment area. We aim to truly make a difference in the multicultural community that we serve.

Internships will be available across the following teams:

Te Puawaitanga CAMHS

Based in Springs Road, East Tamaki, Te Puawaitanga is a multi-disciplinary team that serves the both the urban areas from Manukau down to the rural areas of Pukekohe. The team works with tamariki and their whanau between the ages of 4 and 18 years. Psychologists in this team provide therapy, assessments, and community support. The team has a strong DBT and family therapy basis. There will also be an opportunity to work closely with experts in other areas of child and youth such as neurodevelopmental assessments.

Te Rawhiti CMHC

Te Rawhiti is based in Highland Park in East Auckland and provides clinical care to the adult community in that area. The team is well established, with depth and much experience. Te Rawhiti has always been a popular internship placement and many students stay on after their internship. This team also boasts the biggest psychology team in Counties, with six psychologists. There will be many opportunities to learn and grow from such a diverse group of practitioners.

Early Psychosis Intervention (EPIT)

EPIT is a district-wide team based in Springs Road, East Tamaki. EPIT focuses on youth and young adults with a first presentation of psychosis and severe mental illness. This team is a smaller, more specialist service that works from an outreach-focused, integrated model. The psychologist role includes therapy and treatment planning, as well as assessment, and education. This is a chance to work with young people at the crucial points of their care and to make a systemic and clinical difference in their lives.

Regional Dual Disabilities (RDDs) and Manukau CMHC

RDDs and Manukau are two services that cater to very different populations; both are based in Lambie Drive, Manukau. RDDs provides support for people with intellectual disability who also have significant mental health concerns. They provide assessment, therapy, and support and advice for the whanau and professionals who support this community. This placement provides an opportunity to develop very good assessment and treatment planning skills, which are essential for a good psychologist. We have also combined this internship with time in Manukau CMHC to ensure further exposure to therapy and to enrich the learning experience.

Essential:
• Eligible to register in the intern scope of practise with the NZ Psychology Board
• A full clean driver’s licence
• Interviews will take place around 29th October - 1st November. If you are not in Auckland on these dates, interviews can be conducted via MS Teams.

Please apply online at www.countieshealthjobs.com. Please indicate on your cover letter, your ranking preference for the teams you are applying to at our organisation.
