Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Tū Māia is a regionally focused multi-disciplinary team whose primary role is the assessment and treatment of tamariki and rangatahi involved in the Youth Justice systems. This role will include (but not limited to) preparing formal reports on mental health needs for the Courts and other agencies, and providing short term therapies to a small number of young people. We also provide clinical services to young people in secure residential care, and court liaison services.

Tū Māia was suitably named as the rangatahi  and whānau using the service are predominantly Māori and are thought to be brave and courageous engaging in the court ordered comprehensive assessment processes whereby highly personal information is sought and shared after a very short period of engagement with the clinicians and cultural advisors.

We are looking for a dynamic Mental Health Nurse, who has experience in child and adolescent work, and preferably forensic services, and be able to provide comprehensive mental health assessments, deliver effective evidence based treatment strategies for young people who present to the service, and work collaboratively with other team members and other services. A high standard of report writing is required.

For further details, please refer to the position description here.
