As part of the continuing growth and development of General Surgery at Waitemata District Health, there is a development opportunity to take your career to the next level and become our Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist.
This exciting role involves working with the Clinical Leaders and the wider clinical team to assist with managing this group of patients. You will assist with the coordination of the multidisciplinary care of these patients, undertake and coordinate telephone and face to face assessments of referred patients.
You will have a nurse education role and assist the ward staff with sub-speciality nursing issues. You will have a role in data management and facilitation of research in conjunction with the clinicians and research nurses. You will be assessed on key performance indicators as defined by the service.
It is acknowledged that this role will be evolutionary role and training and education will be given as required to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, a sound work ethic and a demonstrated commitment to the provision of safe and appropriate patient / family focused health care delivery. You will be able to work positively with patients, clinicians, nurses and other key stakeholders.
Post-graduate education at certificate/diploma level should be underway or planned (if planned can be discussed at interview) and on-going professional development is required.
