Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Counties Manukau provides a range of district-wide services offering specialist mental health interventions to various high-risk populations residing in the southern regions of Auckland (Counties Manukau district). We invite psychologists with the appropriate professional expertise and skills - or an interest in developing skills in one of the specialist areas, to consider our roles. Our district-wide teams offer you a chance to work in vibrant and skilled multidisciplinary teams and to develop your specialist clinical skills.
Please note: We are also inviting applications for our general community-based mental health services for children, youth, and adults. Please see our second advert for further details.
We have the following positions available across our District-Wide Services:
Perinatal Mental Health Service:
Maternal Mental Health: This specialist service offers comprehensive assessment, treatment, and support for women and fathers experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges during or related to the perinatal period. Our dedicated team is committed to providing compassionate care tailored to each individual's needs.
Infant Mental Health: This specialist service supports families with children under the age of 4 who are facing social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. We focus on fostering healthy parent-child relationships, early identification of developmental delays, and promoting positive attachment and bonding. Our collaborative approach addresses both the child’s needs and the parents’ mental health, enhancing overall family support.
Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP)
Based at Middlemore Hospital, MHSOP is a multi-disciplinary Mental Health service that includes an inpatient ward and a community team. MSHOP primarily focuses on assessing and treating service users aged 65 years and over. Our psychologists provide specialist assessments, and cohort-focused interventions and consultations within the community.

RDDS is a regional specialist team providing assessment, intervention, and consultation for adult clients with both psychiatric disorders and intellectual disabilities. Our psychologists provide specialist assessments, consultation, and treatment planning in collaboration with the appropriate community supports.
