Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced paediatric physiotherapist to join our service to provide expert physiotherapy knowledge, advice and support to promote effective management and advanced physiotherapy practice within the speciality area of Paediatric Orthopaedics. This is an opportunity for someone who is looking to provide advanced clinical expertise and clinical leadership in the specialty area of paediatric orthopaedic physiotherapy. The position is full time however we will consider part time hours or a job share.

This will specifically involve the orthopaedic management of children with a variety of conditions from neurologic disorders e.g. cerebral palsy to CTEV. Experience in, or a keen interest in gaining skills in formal gait analysis is essential. You will contribute to weekly gait analysis data collection sessions and participate in fortnightly gait lab reporting sessions. You will be expected to run independent clinics working alongside, and supported by, Starship orthopaedic surgeons. All work undertaken will be in line with your knowledge and skills as agreed with Allied Health and the Orthopaedic service. The service needs will alter over time so any changes to the focus of this role will be by negotiation with all stakeholders.

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • NZ registration as a Physiotherapist with current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • 6+years of post-graduate clinical work experience
  • A physiotherapist with skills and experience in paediatric orthopaedic rehabilitation, neuro-disability, and gait analysis
  • Able to thrive in an environment where evidence-based practice, strengths in collaboration, clinical reasoning, and decision making skills are highly valued?

Salary from $109000 to $119000

The remuneration for this position is covered by a collective agreement (PSA Allied, Public Health Scientific Technical MECA)
